Zelensky: Government budget for 2020 should provide for adequate military funding
During the working trip to the Kyiv region, President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the International Interagency Multidisciplinary Training Center of the National Guard Units of Ukraine.
The Head of State watched the military shooting practice with the participation of the warriors of the National Guard and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The units demonstrated the use of sniping weapons, the search for explosives and weapons by canines, actions during the attempt of illegal armed groups to break through the checkpoint of the National Guard, airdrop mission, gunfight, evacuation of wounded by the National Guard special purpose unit.
Volodymyr Zelensky also inspected the equipment of the National Police of Ukraine: motorcycles and boats, vehicles for transportation of investigative teams and forensic laboratories, detained persons, special units, air support units, service horses, canine units and explosive ordnance disposal units.
The President also examined the military equipment, special equipment, armaments of the National Guard and the State Border Service: repair and evacuation group of the National Guard, modern auto-bandaging and medical equipment, mobile automated radiation complex of the State Border Service, mobile border control station, modern engineering weaponry, means of radiation, chemical and biological protection, means of communication of the National Guard special units, optical and optoelectronic means of surveillance of the State Border Service, means of surveillance during intelligence, armored vehicles, means of border control, sniping weapons, gear and equipment of the National Guard of Ukraine.
The Head of State praised the fact that the majority of the demonstrated equipment is of Ukrainian production. He noted the high level of professional training of the units and stated that the next year's state budget should provide adequate funding for the military.
"I'm impressed. What is still to be done? Everyone is now working on a budget. The state has to find money for our rescuers, national guard warriors and all the military, to support them,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.
The Head of State expressed hope that the skills demonstrated by the units would be applied in emergency management in all regions of Ukraine.
“I want to thank you for your service to Ukraine. We would like to have such a level not only in the exercises, but also in every region,” he emphasized.
