Ukrzaliznytsia may purchase trains from the Swiss company Stadler
JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" is studying the possibility of purchasing electric and diesel trains from the Swiss company Stadler. This was published by press service of Ukrzaliznytsia.
Ivan Yurik, Chairman of the Management Board of the company, discussed this issue during a meeting with business representatives and rolling stock manufacturers of the Swiss Confederation.
“The trains of this manufacturer have already positively proven themselves on a wide track. In particular, trains produced by this company are successfully used by the Belarusian railway for organizing city trains and regional transportation,” Yurik said.
According to him, trains produced by Stadler can be used for the implementation of the Kiev city train project.
As reported, the Kryukov Carriage Works produces regional diesel trains, high-speed interregional locomotive-hauled trains, spare parts and bogies for freight cars.
The plant produced 5.28 thousand freight cars last year, which is 43.2% more than a year earlier (3686 units).
