Ukrainians are not yet ready for calendar reform. This opinion was expressed by the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Epiphanius in an interview with Radio Liberty.
“We see now that there is a discussion about the calendar issue on calendar reform, but this issue is rather complicated. The Ukrainian people are not yet ready for a calendar reform. When all the Orthodox local churches unite, then it will be easier to make an appropriate decision, ”said the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Epiphanius also said that this question is "being raised", but there is "great resistance", since "many are already used to a certain date."
“We need to change the entire calendar system. The church is not opposed, but this is not the time. In the dioceses we will conduct a survey, we will see what percentage for the transfer, what is against. We will analyze, work. In the future, I think this issue will be resolved positively, ” he said.
