Ukrainian president had a phone conversation with Merkel
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
The Head of State highly appreciated the support of the Chancellor in peace making in Ukraine, her consistent position on sanctions against the Russian Federation, as well as practical assistance of Germany in implementation of policy reforms.
Angela Merkel stressed the unwavering position of Germany in support of Ukraine to make peace in Donbas. She said that she would use future contacts with partners in the Normandy format to reach an agreement on the date of the summit.
The participants discussed the security situation in Donbas, in particular in the area of Zolote and Petrivske where the troops are to be separated as well as the work on reconstruction of the bridge near Stanytsia Luhanska.
