“It is a great opportunity to find out more about each other. It is a great honor for us to come to Japan next year. It is a great honor for us to cheer for medals.

It is a great honor for us to see Japan and to show our country to Japan,” Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ukraine Volodymyr Borodiansky said at the formal reception dedicated to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, which was held at the residence of the Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Takashi Kurai on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to the minister, both countries will discover each other again despite the great distance between them during the Olympics next year.

Borodiansky expressed his appreciation for the assistance provided by the Japanese government to Ukraine, including for the development of gymnastics.

In turn, Ambassador Kurai expressed his hope that the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics will strengthen bilateral relations.

"I want the Games to be an event that will strengthen relations between the citizens of Japan and Ukraine," he said.

The Government of Japan donated $74,470 to the Ukrainian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation within the framework of the Kusanone Grant Assistance Program.
