At the round table the issues of cultural and national development of the Turkic peoples in Ukraine, their participation in the constitutional reforms and social and political life of the country were discussed. Great attention was paid to the historical ties between Ukraine and the Turkic peoples. A well-known public figure, national artist of Ukraine Masautov Rafael said that Ukraine is a golden cradle of Turkic peoples.

“Such nationalities as the Scythians, Hun-Bulgars, Khazars have been living at the territory of Ukraine during 300 years. Our peoples pieces fit together for more than 1,000 years”, - he said. According to Masautov, the attempt to unite the Turkic peoples of Ukraine was made in the late 80s of the last century. In 1989, we held a conference of the Turkic peoples. Upon its competition 14 national-cultural Turkic societies were established. After this conference the State Committee for National Minorities was created”, said the national artist.

The representative of the Union of the Gagauz of Ukraine All-Ukrainian public organization Vasil Kelioglo told that Bohdan Khmelnytsky asked for support from neighboring nations to fight with the Polish state Rzecz Pospolita in the 16th century, but only the Crimean Khan has helped the Ukrainian hetman.

A representative of the Civil Constitutional Congress, a member of the Committee on the work of the EU countries and international organizations Masautov Timur said that the Turkic peoples have created powerful empires from China to the Danube.

“Only on the territory of Ukraine there were 5-6 such states. 12 of dynastic marriages were concluded between the Kievan princes and Cumans. And until the 18th century a large part of Ukraine was part of the Ottoman Empire,” - he said. According to the former ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Talat Aliyev, forcible eviction of the Crimean Tatars in 1945 took place under the banner of the fight against pan-Turkism that convicts as anti-Soviet ideology.

President of the Vatandash-Countryman Charitable Foundation Khalilov Rustem speaking about the tragic story of the Crimean Tatar people noted that there are still about 100 thousand Crimean Tatars are unable to return to their historical lands.

“As you know, the land in the Crimea is very expensive, and the majority of our people, who since the time of the deportation has been living in Uzbekistan, cannot return home on their own funds. The Uzbekistan property is very cheap, so our compatriots cannot sell their homes there and buy by the same price a land in Crimea. Also I don’t see any action to help our fellow citizens from international organizations and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars.
