Ukraine in Arabic | Restoration of damaged Donbass region will cost to Ukraine near $8 bln

If earlier the sum was near 8 billion UAH (for infrastructure rehabilitation and other damage at the Donbass), it seems nothing came out, so this figure is reached 8 billion dollars

KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ Ukraine Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk stated that total amount of funds that would be needed to restore the infrastructure of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts which sustained damages in the course of the anti-terrorist operation is estimated at $8 billion.

"While two months ago, when we liberated Sloviansk, we needed UAH 8 billion, according to our estimates, now [the sum in] hryvnias could be changed to U.S. dollars, and these are billions of U.S. dollars of destroyed infrastructure," he said, opening a cabinet meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The premier said that the EU will send an ad hoc commission to Ukraine to conduct stocktaking and assess losses, and in November 2014 the large donor conference will be held to collect funds to restore Donbas.

Yatsenyuk said that the government plans to introduce targeted assistance to residents of the eastern part of Ukraine who will return to their houses when the armed conflict ends. He once again was subjected to the charge of the militia in the intentional destruction of infrastructure in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, but mainly in the killing of the people.
