Ukraine in Arabic | 179 Ukrainian officials dismissed under lustration law

The Ukrainian Justice Ministry has published a list of former politicians with respect to whom the law on the cleansing of power has already been applied

KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ On October 9, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed the law on lustration, which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) on September 16. On October 15, the law was posted in the Holos Ukrayiny (Voice of Ukraine) parliamentary newspaper. It came in force on October 16.

The law outlines the legal and organizational framework for the inspection of civil servants and local government staff in order to restore confidence in the government and create conditions for the construction of a new system of government in accordance with European standards.

According to it, 179 Ukrainian officials were dismissed. The Ukrainian Justice Ministry has published a list of former politicians with respect to whom the law on the cleansing of power has already been applied.

The list is available on the Web site "The cleansing of the Ukrainian authorities," part of the ministry's Web portal, in the section "Register." The section contains a list of officials subject to lustration, from which it is possible to jump to the page on each of them and get information about their jobs, last posts in government, reports on the results of checks on them, as well as the term for which they were banned from holding government posts.
