UAE purchased container terminal near Odessa
The port operator from the UAE, DP World, has taken into use a container terminal located in the port of Yuzhny in Odessa. This was reported by regional media, including the Dumskaya portal, with reference to the owner.
Thus, Ukraine became the 51st country where DP World operates. It is worth noting that the company is one of the three largest port operators in the world. In 2019, the company processed 71 million TEU (20-foot containers). This is 71 times more than all Ukrainian ports combined. The company operates 78 sea terminals and the largest industrial park in the world, the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA).
The sale of the terminal was organized and conducted by the investment company SD Capital. The transaction value has not yet been disclosed.
Among the priority plans, DP World names the introduction of the latest IT solutions and the global expertise of the group into the terminal, a focus on the intermodal segment of cargo transportation, strengthening the terminal team with the best specialists from around the world, development of an industrial park on its own TIS lands, following the example of the largest free economic zone Jebel Ali Free Zone.
