Egyptian national Eman Abdul Atti, once known as the 'world's heaviest woman' passed away on Monday, September 25, at 4:35am due to complications from the underlying comorbid conditions, including heart disease and kidney dysfunction, according to medical experts at Burjeel Hospital.

Eman had been admitted at Burjeel hospital on May 4.

She had been under the supervision of over 20 doctors from different specialities, who were managing her medical condition from the time she arrived in the UAE.

Eman's family expressed their appreciation and care and treatment provided to her by Burjeel Hospital. The family is also grateful to the rulers and residents for their support to Eman during the treatment.

VPS Healthcare managing director Dr Shamsheer Vayalil had big plans with Eman. And it was only two months back that Eman was wheeled into the auditorium at the hospital during a press conference.

"We want to fight the larger cause of obesity. And Eman is no less than Malala Yousafzai. We want to use Eman as an ambassador in the fight against obesity," Vayalil had earlier said.

"Our prayers and heartfealt condolences go out to her family," said the hospital.
