Employees of the Migration Service detained believers in the Dumu UMMA
On Friday, January 31, from 12 to 14 hours, employees of the State Migration Service of Ukraine checked the documents of people at the building of the mosque of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “Ummah”. They detained about 25 people who had problems with registration.
According to Mufti Said Ismagilov, that after the prayer they detained several dozen people.
At the same time, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports expressed its claims to the department and the procedure itself, referring to the Constitution of Ukraine.
“Article 5 of the Law of Ukraine“ On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations ”says the following:
"The state protects the rights and legitimate interests of religious organizations ... takes note of and respects the traditions and internal attitudes of religious organizations, if they do not contradict the current legislation," they wrote on the official page of the ministry on Facebook.
They noted that such humiliating checks during the ritual are not permissible, therefore the time and place of the “operation” raises a number of questions, both moral and ethical, and legal.
“We understand the indignation of the Muslim community and we want to assure of our support, which follows, first of all, from the spirit of solidarity,” the culture department emphasized.
They called on the migration service to work with religious organizations on such things.
