Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada said that the parliament at the next session could consider amendments to the Constitution

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Dmitry Razumkov said that the parliament at the next session could consider amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine on the issue of reducing deputy seats. He said this on the air of the Ukrainian television channel ICTV.

"I think yes. There is a decision of the Constitutional Court, ”said Razumkov, answering the corresponding question of the host of the Freedom of Speech program. He suggested that the Rada at the next session may consider a reduction in deputies from 450 to 300.

At the same time, the speaker expressed regret that the Constitutional Court returned the bill on the deprivation of the mandate of deputies who vote for their colleagues, as well as those who skip plenary sessions.

“I still think that if a people's deputy does not fulfill his functions, then he has nothing to do in the Verkhovna Rada, let him go do something else,” Razumkov noted.

Earlier, the Constitutional Court recognized as a constitutional bill to reduce the composition of the Verkhovna Rada and consolidate the proportional electoral system.

The next session of the Verkhovna Rada will begin on February 4.
