Ukraine in Arabic | The day of Ashura was celebrated in Kiev
KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ On November 3rd, on the 10-th day of Muharram of the lunar calendar a festive Iftar was held in the Ar-Rahma mosque in Kiev.
Ashura is traditionally celebrated during 2 or 3 days of fasting. The Sunnah of the Prophet says that God forgives all sins committed during the previous year to the one who fasts in these days.
For Muslims, the 10th day of Muharram is the day of great events or even miracles. On this day the Adam was forgiven by God, the Prophet Moses was saved from Pharaoh, Prophet Noah's Ark moored to the Mount Ararat etc.
It is believed that Muharram is the best time for fasting after Ramadan.
After committing of collective prayer the parishioners of the Ar-Rahma had a common meal. Traditionally there were a hearty soup with lamb, eastern pilaf, salad and fruits.
