Damage from the snowstorm and the problems in the movement of public transport costed $200 million to the economy of New York. Major losses have occurred in small businesses and timephased workers have also suffered.

At the same time, vice president of Planalytics Evan Gold rated the economic losses of all the north-eastern region of the United States, including New York, Philadelphia and Boston in $500 million.

According to him, the last snowstorm has brought relatively little damage in compare to last year's anomalies, when a number of major American cities were caught into snowdrift for several weeks, and total losses were estimated in between $15 to $50 billion.
