Ukraine in Arabic | Akhmed Tamim: Appreciate what you have, before it becomes what you had
KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ On November 14th, The 70 years without a homeland event dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the deportation of the Meskhetian Turks, held in Kiev.
The event was also attended by the Mufti of Ukraine Sheikh Akhmed Tamim. He urged Meskhetian Turks and other representatives of national communities to support Ukraine in these difficult times.
“I am not a politician but, for my opinion, the results of the recent elections in Ukraine have shown that people’s views have been changed and they are ready to defend our country”, Akhmed Tamim said.
Mufti also noted that Ukraine is a wise country because it prevented a split of a state and bloodshed as it was in Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia and Bosnia.
Akhmed Tamim said that Ukraine has become a second home for many people.
On November 14th, 1944, 99.000 Meskhetian Turks were deported from their native territories to Central Asian countries ‘"to ensure the safety of the Soviet-Turkish border’. Transportation of people was carried out in goods wagons. During 2 months’ relocation 25.000 people died, most of them were children.
