Egyptians authorities approved demarcation agreement with Saudi Arabia
Egyptian state television reported that the government has approved an agreement on the maritime border with Saudi Arabia, finally sending the document to the House of Representatives.
Earlier Ukraine in Arabian said the document was signed by representatives of the two countries in Cairo eight months ago.
The agreement relocates the islands of Tiran and Sanafir strategically located in the Red Sea to Saudi Arabia.
The Middle East news agency reported that the adoption of the Convention was “in accordance with the appropriate constitutional procedures applicable in this regard.”
The Egyptian government announced in April the first, that the technical drawings confirm that the islands of Tiran and Sanafir correspond to Saudi Arabia.
A day after approving the agreement, the Egyptian Cabinet disclosed in an official statement that the islands of Tiran and Sanafir positioned in the Red sea fall under the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
