Suspicions and question marks hang over the Ethics of “Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce”
Kiev / Ukraine in Arabic /After several follow-ups and receiving complaints regarding the “Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce”, which has been active for ten years with official meetings and the conclusion of bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding with chambers of commerce of different countries.
And deeper following up, investigating, and listening to various testimonies of Iraqi and foreign businessmen who had contact in one way or another, it became clear that the reality is that these agreements do not go beyond the stage of their signing, and once the camera lights go out, these agreements become part of the archive news. Iraqi and foreign businessmen reported to “Ukraine in Arabic,” and in particular revealed the real reason behind these official and commercial meetings.
The investigation proved over the course of days that the “Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce” is nothing but a cover for money laundering and obstructing commercial cooperation, and that the members who lead this institution have not emerged from any successful commercial work and that all the signed agreements remained ink on paper and no real project has crystallized from them on the ground.
The sources also revealed that a narrow circle had used the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce as a cover for money laundering and an alliance with corrupt officials to embezzle public funds of the state, as well as conspiring to obstruct the real commercial endeavors of real businessmen.
In an interview with several Iraqi businessmen who preferred not to reveal their names and who are among those very familiar with the essence of the Federation internally, they stated that the head of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, Abdul Razzaq Al-Zuhairi, is nothing but a person who does not have any significant competencies or economic experience and that he is not qualified to represent this institution, and he is not fluent in any foreign language, not even classical Arabic, and in his meetings with foreign delegations his addiction to alcohol became apparent.
As an example and not limited to, in a separate meeting, a source from the members of the official delegation of Ukrainian businessmen to Iraq, which was headed by the Ukrainian ambassador to Baghdad, reported with the President of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, Abdul Razzaq Al-Zuhairi, and his team, which took place in April 2019, where Al-Zuhairi made himself a pledge to improve... Economic relations with the Ukrainian party, but the interested Ukrainian and Iraqi parties confirmed after three years that the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce had not taken any real steps towards strengthening trade relations between the two countries.
The matter was a waste of time and blocked the way to real initiatives for commercial cooperation, which leads us towards a clear conclusion that the “The Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce” is a systematic platform to harm and destroy any effective efforts for Iraqi economic advancement, which leaves great questions and serious question marks.
