Ukrainian air carriers boost passenger transportation services by 40% in H1
Ukrainian air carriers increased passenger transportation by 40% in January-June 2017 (H1) year-over-year (y-o-y), to 4.6 million people, according to the State Statistics Service.
Passenger turnover for the period under review soared by 45.8%, to 8.9 million passengers/km, the report said. Air freight for the first five months of 2017 fell by 8.9%, to 4,000 tonnes, while cargo turnover decreased by 2.4%, to 113.3 million tonnes/km compared to January-June 2016.
The State Statistics Service said that the data excluded reports from temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, and Donbas. As reported earlier, Ukrainian air carriers increased passenger transportation by 42.5% in January-May 2017 y-o-y, to 3.5 million people. In 2016, the country's air carriers rose passenger transportation by 31.3%, to 8.3 million people, while air fright by 7.4%, to 70,000 tonnes.
