Poroshenko: Ukraine-EU Association Agreement's entry into force historic day
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has commented on the entry into force of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, saying that September 1, 2017, is a historic day for strong and independent Ukraine.
"There has been a historic change in the geographical structure of Ukrainian exports in favor of increasing its volume to the EU countries. These are irreversible processes of integration of the Ukrainian economy into the EU market," he wrote on Facebook on Friday, September 1.
According to Poroshenko, foreign trade in goods and services with the EU countries grew by 22% in the past six months. "Since January 1, 2016, we have a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area with the EU. Over six months of this year, foreign trade in goods and services of Ukraine with the EU countries grew by 22%. The European Union accounts for almost 40% of our trade," Poroshenko added.
