Zelensky met with Prime Minister of Latvia
President of Ukraine held talks with Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia Krišjānis Kariņš during his official visit to Latvia.
The Head of State thanked the Prime Minister of Latvia for his consistent support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and for his position on sanctions against Russia.
“This visit is very important to us. Today, our priority is ending the war. And it is very important that we had the help of Europe, our friends who support us together,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.
The gradual increase in bilateral trade between the two countries and the availability of opportunities for further development of economic cooperation were noted at the negotiations.
The parties agreed to ensure further active work within the framework of the Ukrainian-Latvian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
Volodymyr Zelensky informed the Latvian side about the steps which had been taken by the Ukrainian authorities to improve business conditions in Ukraine and investment opportunities.
The President of Ukraine also noted the urgency of attracting further expert assistance to Latvia, using the Latvian experience to implement reforms in our country in accordance with the European Union Association Agreement. Particular attention was paid to the improvement of Ukrainian medicine.
Krišjānis Kariņš supported Ukraine in the “Nord Stream - 2” issues, and stressed that Latvia had been opposed to this project at all sites.
