US intends to allocate $ 250 million. Pentagon as new military aid to Ukraine
The White House in the next year’s draft budget proposes to allocate at least $ 250 million in assistance to Ukraine in the field of security and defense, including for Javelin anti-tank systems, US Deputy Secretary of Defense John Rood told reporters in the Pentagon, Defense News reports.
According to him, if the draft budget is approved by the US Congress, then Washington will continue to provide assistance to Ukraine, including the provision of lethal weapons.
The publication notes that the official’s statement is unusual, since such information is most often disclosed before the official presentation of the draft budget by the White House - usually in February or March.
The U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense noted that the $ 250 million that Washington provided to Kiev through the Pentagon in 2019 was almost fully utilized, with the exception of the $ 8.5 million that they plan to allocate later.
