Ukrainian president met with german minister of foreign affairs
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Heiko Maas who arrived to Ukraine on a working visit.
The interlocutors discussed the current state and the prospects of development of Ukrainian-German relations.
The President of Ukraine expressed gratitude for Germany’s consistent support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, for its comprehensive assistance in implementing structural reforms in our country, as well as for promoting initiatives to restore the damaged Donetsk infrastructure.
The Head of State informed the German high-ranking official of the security situation in Donbas and expressed hope that the meeting in the Normandy format scheduled for December 9 would pave the way to a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
The situation on the adoption of the law on the implementation of the so-called EU Gas Directive in Germany was also discussed. Heiko Maas assured that amendments to German law were in line with the provisions of this directive.
The parties also discussed practical cooperation in the context of implementation of Ukraine's course towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
