Ukraine in Araic | Ukrainian politic parties to form a coalition
KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ Ukrainian Prime Minister and People's Front leader Arseniy Yatsenyuk has presented to journalists his draft agreement on the creation of a coalition in the future parliament. He sees the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko as a major strategic partner and also invites Batkivshchyna, Samopomich and Oleh Liashko's Radical Party to negotiations.
"In accordance with European practice, the party that got the first place in the elections must start the process of forming a coalition. I announced the coalition formation principles. If the coalition is formed on these principles, then it would be objective that the leader of the party heads the government. If the coalition is not formed on these principles, then it would be absolutely normal that the other party assumes the process of forming the coalition. And then there will be another prime minister in the country," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.
"We got the first place in the elections," Yatsenyuk said, explaining the leadership of the People's Front in the formation of the coalition.
"I am appealing, first and foremost, to the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko, because I regard the block and personally the president as a major strategic partner in implementing changes in the country. The responsibility for the country's fate now rests with the president and the party that won the first place in these parliamentary elections," he said.
"I also consider it necessary to invite to official and public talks on the formation of the coalition Yulia Tymoshenko and the Batkivshchyna Party, Samopomich and Andriy Sadovy, as well as the Radical Party for which millions of Ukrainians voted," Yatsenyuk said.
He also said that he proposed naming the new coalition "European Ukraine."
