Kiev/ Ukraine in Arabic/ Government has proposed that creditors accept the position of Ukraine in negotiations on the country’s public debt, and conclude the talks,  Arseniy Yatseniuk said on Friday during the hour of questions for the government.

Yatseniuk said – "The government is committed to its position on the need to complete talks on the restructuring of foreign debts of the country.”

"The country is at war, we have lost 20% of the economy. We turned to our creditors to restructure our debts. And we are asking and insisting that the external creditors understand the current situation and accept the offer of Ukraine. It's time for lenders to help Ukraine," Yatseniuk said.

Yatseniuk also said that during the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych the country's public debt increased by $42 billion, up from $30 billion to $72 billion.

"However, in 2014 we only received $9 billion from our contributors, and we paid $14 billion dollars on the debts that we hadn’t taken," he said.
