Ukraine in Arabic | Ukrainian President wites Russian President demanding action on East Ukraine conflict

Russia, Ukraine and insurgents agreed to Minsk peace plan last September

Kiev/Ukraine in Arabic/ Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko has sent a letter to Russian President Putin demanding that Russia fulfill the terms of the Minsk peace plan agreed to by both countries last September - informed Ukraine Today.

The document aims to bring an end to fighting in east Ukraine, where Ukrainian forces have been battling Russian-backed militants for some nine months.

Poroshenko told Polish channel TVN 24 that the letter also contained a demand that Russia free Ukrainian prisoners including Natalie Savchenko, a Ukrainian fighter pilot who says she was captured by Russian-backed militants in June and illegally moved across the border to Russia in July.

She is currently being held in Moscow where she has been on hunger strike for 7 weeks.
