Ukraine in Arabic | Ukraine and Turkey to create a free trade zone

The partnership of Ukraine and Turkey within the OSCE and other international organizations were discussed

KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ The Foreign Ministers of Turkey and Ukraine, Mevlut Cavusoglu and Pavlo Klimkin, discussed preparations for a Turkish-Ukrainian summit today. As reported, they have agreed to intensify negotiations on the creation of a free trade area.

Klimkin said that during their meeting questions of creation of a free trade zone between Ukraine and Turkey, and partnership of Ukraine and Turkey within the OSCE and other international organizations were discussed.

He said that Ukrainian-Turkish relations were strategic. Klimkin also thanked Cavusoglu for supporting the territorial integrity of Ukraine, President Petro Poroshenko's peace plan to resolve the situation in Donbas and for the provision of humanitarian aid.

Cavusoglu, in turn, said that "the signing of a free trade agreement will bring our joint trade to new horizons." He said that in 2013 the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $6.7 billion, which is "well below our potential."

He also said that a meeting of the Ukrainian-Turkish high-level strategic group was scheduled for the first quarter of 2015.
