Ukraine in Arabic | Traditional family values: atavism, or the way of salvation of society
KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ On January 24th, a roundtable discussion on ‘Traditional family values: atavism, or the way of salvation of society’ topic was carried out at the conference hall of the Religious Administration of Ukrainian Muslims (DUMU).
The discussion was attended by members of the Women's Committee of the DUMU, representatives of human rights and women's organizations in Ukraine. The event participants discussed the role of women in modern society, the issues of gender development, its impact on the family and society in general, etc. A stable family is important for Muslims, however its strength is undermined by social factors such as premarital joint cohabitation and hypotheses about gender equality.
A representative of the DUMU’s Women's Committee Adelina Galiaskarova speaking about gender equality, indicated that the negative side of feminism is the changing of men and women’s roles.
“Woman, acquiring masculine qualities, becomes independent, strong morally. Meanwhile, man, getting the feminine qualities, becomes effeminate, and can not perform his obligations.Unfortunately, the West rushes from one extreme to another”, she said.
Expert Consultant Larisa Magdyuk stated that gender relations are a manifestation of mutual respect. According to her, the family would be strong when its based not on stereotypes but on respect, understanding and the ability to negotiate.
“Nowadays, disability among men is high enough. There is a a high percentage of cardiovascular diseases, endocrinological health problems. Male fertility declines”, Magdyuk said.
DUMU’s representative Dzhamilya Sanyuk added that the feebleness of men often caused by excessive alcohol consumption.
The director of a commercial company Zhanna Huseynova said that the EU has allocated funds in the amount of 14 million euros for the development of gender equality in Ukraine and opened the gender centers in 17 regions of the country.
“In fact, the Ukrainian legislation provides for full equality of men and women. Girls, due to gender program, don’t want to born so there a lot of gay and lesbian sexual relationship. The result of this madness is complete moral corruption”, she said.
Dzhamila Sanyuk said that in 2007 the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and religious organizations prepared prepare a declaration against such marriages which was signed by DUMU.
The roundtable participants considered that impact of information technology inflicts damage on the formation of the child's personality. Thus it was observed that frequent watching TV leads to children’s mutism and Internet addiction affects the psychological condition. Social networks are increasingly replacing the live communication.
