European Parliament President Martin Schulz warned the new government of Greece for the change in policy toward Russia. In an interview with ZDF television late on Wednesday, January 28, the German politician said that he is terribly perceived failure of Athens from the joint EU position about the tightening of anti-Russian sanctions. According to him, the Greek government has elected not to boycott the punitive measures against Russia. At the same time, he noted that Greece has had a lot of other concerns.

Schulz also said that he don’t have any desire to have ideological debates with a government which ruled the country only two days.

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers in Athens criticized the EU statement on expanding sanctions against Russia. The Government's position of Alexis Tsipras displeased Brussels.
