Ukraine in Arabic | The conference devoted to Islamic education ended in Kiev
KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ e conference started with the story of Sofia Windisch (Austria) about The training of imams and teachers in the field of Islamic education in Europe book, published in Austria this year.
The Windisch’s work edited by edited by Head of the Department of Islamic Religious Education at University of Vienna Ednan Aslan, tells about the prospects of Islamic education and methods of teaching it.
Windisch noted that the publication of the book in Austria is not a fluke. Islam in Austria has long been a subject of deep study of Islamic Pedagogical Academy and the Department of Islamic Religious Education at the University of Vienna. Sofia Windisch pointed out that Muslims make up 6.2% of the population of her country, which is the highestindicator among all Western European countries.
“Islam came to Austria since the entry of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The first mosque in the country was built in 1977, and two years later the first Islamic religious community was founded. Within the framework of Religious Studies the pupils of all state schools study Islam. The government every year spends 4 million euros for the preparation of imams. Austria is the first European country where Islamic teaching is conducted in German”, - she said
Upon completion of the speeches, the participants held a thematic discussion, after that the conference was officially closed.
