Kiev/Ukraine in Arabic/ Ukraine's Ministry of Defence has accused Russian-backed militants of responsibility for a deadly attack on a Donetsk bus stop on Thursday morning which left at least eight dead.

Ministry officials stated that the nearest Ukrainian forces were located 15 kilometers away from the site of the attack, which occurred during the morning rush hour.

Exact casualty figures remain unconfirmed but a number of deaths have already been reported with dozens more injured. Windows of nearby shops were blown out by the force of the blast.

One Donetsk resident rushed to the scene after receiving a phone call about the attack. This is what he told a reporter:

"They have phoned me and told me my wife has been killed"

"Reporter: I'm sorry, I understand, but have you seen her?"

"No, I haven't seen what happened. I just came. I saw them putting her into a car. That's all I've seen."

Observers from Europe's OSCE monitoring mission are carrying out an assessment at the scene of the trolleybus attack.
