Ukraine in Arabic | Small nations of Ukraine to create a House of Nationalities
KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ Representatives of small peoples of Ukraine and the Commission on inter-ethnic relations and the protection of national minorities adopted an appeal to the head of the Ukrainian government to create the Center for Development of national minority cultures (House of Nationalities).
At the meeting of the Commission held on March 28, representatives of small nations justified the reasons for creating such an institution. According to the representative of the Azerbaijani community, national artist of Ukraine Qurban Abbasov, national minorities forced to rent state rooms for cultural events by commercial price.
"The absence of the House of Nationalities creates problems because of the high prices for rent. As non-governmental and not profitable organizations we conduct concerts, exhibitions and other events but have to pay for it the commercial value", Abbasov said.
According to the head of the The Diaspora of the Chechen people Ukrainian public organization Danil Goncharov, opening the House of Nationalities will coordinate the activities of diasporas.
"We need to unite to reach a great success. I encourage joining our efforts and using our own resources to carry out our activities, "- said Goncharov.
Representatives of national communities touched upon the issue creating a pavilion of small nations in the Museum of History of Ukraine. This initiative was actively supported by the head of the Anti-Fascist Committee, Alexander Naiman.
Deputy Minister of Culture Alexander Zhuravchak told the audience that the cost of culture is limited less than elsewhere in the budget adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on March 28. The official also told about the meeting with representatives the Council of Europe, which have been affected by the problem of the Crimea and the national minorities.
The meeting participants adopted an appeal to the head of the government with a request to restore a special state body for Nationalities and Religions.
Also participants discussed the creation under the Ministry Culture of Ukraine, some organizations, such as Council of representatives of public organizations of national minorities, the Council of National Unity, Interdepartmental Commission on combat xenophobia and racial intolerance under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Azerbaijan, African, Greek, Gagauz, Moldovan, German, and the Chechen diaspora.
