Ukraine in Arabic | Saudi Arabia provided more financial support to Palestine

The humanitarian aid, made in response to a proposal made by the World Food Program, will help more than 81,000 residents of the Gaza Strip.

KYIV/Ukraine in arabic/ Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz has approved $1 million for Palestinians in the West Bank as an additional aid for humanitarian programs in the in occupied territory.

The donation was given in response to a proposal made by the World Food Program, an official statement said, adding that the aid would be distributed through the Saudi Committee for the Relief of Palestinians. It will benefit 81,000 Palestinians.

The Palestinians living in the Jordan Valley, in the eastern part of the occupied West Bank, suffer from extreme living conditions as the Israeli authorities frequently demolish their homes and displace them, often under the pretext of using their lands as military zones. Meanwhile, Israel has been confiscating and demolishing the homes of Palestinians who live near the separation wall since 2002 and the residents of Palestinian refugee camps are living in unhealthy homes that do not meet international standards. UN humanitarian chief Valerie Amos, meanwhile, said that it would take months to repair damage to the UN’s infrastructure caused by the Israeli bombardment of Gaza.

"Damage to hospitals, schools and UNRWA shelters where people displaced sought refuge will take months to rebuild," she said, referring to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees.

Amos was speaking to reporters at the start of a two-day visit for talks in Tehran with Iranian officials on the humanitarian crises wreaked by conflicts in the Gaza Strip, Syria and Iraq.

Last Wednesday, a day after the $80 million aid for Gaza was promised, Saudi Arabia also announced that it would be donating $100 million to a UN centre established "to coordinate and assist international counterterrorism efforts". The Kingdom provided the initial funding to establish the centre in 2011.
