Ukraine in Arabic | Photo exhibition dedicated to the Republic of South Africa opened in Kiev
KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ The exhibition was attended by the First Secretary of the Embassy of South Africa in Ukraine Mr. Sebele Mokoki, President of the African Council of Ukraine Mohammad Ceesay, the members of the International Union public organization (IU), the library staff, and others.
The event was opened by the Vice-President of the African Council of Ukraine Diallo Issa Sadio. He noted that the purpose of the event is to familiarize the Ukrainian public with the culture of South Africa. Participated in photo exhibition the First secretary of the Embassy of South Africa in Ukraine Mr. Sebele Mokoki told about contemporary Republic of South Africa (RSA).
“We are the country with a rich history, with the history of the struggle against colonialism and apartheid. There was a policy of segregation - the division of society along racial lines. Today the RSA is a free country called the ‘rainbow nation’, because of peacefully coexisting of different nations and races. The republic of South Africa has 13 official languages and even cash coins are minted in different languages”, - the diplomat said.
After the Sebele Mokoki’s speech an employee of the African Union in Ukraine Sergey Gromov gave a presentation on the theme ‘Republic of South Africa: Past and Present’. Later the guests watched The Unconquered movie about the life of Nelson Mandela.
At the end of the photo exhibition a buffet table was organized.
