KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ The Ukrainian parliament has adopted a bill proposed by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko regarding the system of specially authorized subjects in the field of combating corruption.

Ukrainian lawmakers have adopted at first reading a draft law on the system of specially authorized entities in combating corruption.

A total of 278 MPs voted for this decision on Tuesday.

Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov said that presidential bill No. 5085 would be the first issue considered on October 14. The speaker expressed hope that it would be finally adopted on October 14.

Alternative bills from Svoboda politic party and from Batkivschyna politic party were not considered, because they were filed late last night and this morning and were not discussed at a meeting of the concerned parliamentary committee.

Under the bill, it is proposed to establish the National Anti-Corruption Bureau outside the system of existing law enforcement agencies, as a state law enforcement agency entrusted with preventing, detecting, stopping and uncovering criminal offenses falling within its jurisdiction.

It is proposed that the bureau be tasked with fighting criminal corruption offenses, which were committed by senior officials authorized to perform the functions of the state or local government and pose a threat to national security.
