Ukraine in Arabic | Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People was held in Kiev
KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ On Thursday, December 4th, a gala reception on the occasion of the Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People was organized in Kiev. The event was organized by the Palestinian Embassy in Ukraine.
The event was attended by ambassadors, diplomats, Ukrainian politicians and officials, representatives of the diaspora communities, community organizations, religious leaders, civil society organizations, artists and journalists and many others.
Traditionally, guests were welcomed at the entrance by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Palestine to Ukraine Mohammed Al-Asaad and the staff of the diplomatic mission.
After the national anthems of Ukraine and Palestine the head of the Palestinian embassy addressed the audience.
First of all, Mohammed Al-Asaad thanked all the guests for coming. “We welcome all the nations who support peace, inalienable and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and their desire to establish an independent Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem in the 1967 borders”, he said.
Mohammed Al-Asaad briefly described the conditions of the life of Palestinians and outlined the objectives which they seek to achieve. There is escalation of tension, terror, nasty religious and sectarian aggression in our region. There is a possibility of the political transformation of this conflict into a religious one. We condemn the assassination and aggression against the civilian population. We are trying to achieve peace and tranquility, but it’s impossible due to the ignorance of our existence, rights, Muslim and Christian holy sites and our dignity as a nation.
In his speech, Ambassador Al-Asaad said that current Israeli government should stop settlement activities in the occupied territory of the Palestinian state, including in East Jerusalem.
“There are discussions of the recognition of the State of Palestine at the parliaments of many European states. We therefore call on all European Union countries that have not recognized the Palestinian state yet, to do that, if they intend to maintain peace in the region, and want to create a balanced relationship with the two sides. We do not encourage anyone to break off relations with Israel, we want a balanced relationship”, Al-Asaad said.
The diplomat also expressed his gratitude to the parliaments of Spain, UK, Belgium, Ireland and France for their actions taken on the way to the recognition of the State of Palestine.
The banquet was organized after the end of
