Ukraine in Arabic | Canada to provide financial support to Kiev

Ukraine's economy is suffering as a result of the crisis in the country, with a standoff between government forces and independence supporters in the country's southeastern regions.

KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ Canada allocated $200 million loan for Ukraine to help restore its economy and ensure the country's social stability, the press service of the Ukrainian Finance Ministry has reported.

"The Ukrainian Finance Ministry carried out external government borrowing by signing a loan agreement of September 17, 2014 between Ukraine and Canada's export agency as an agent of Her Majesty the Queen in right of Canada, in the amount of 200 million Canadian dollars at a rate of 2.1 percent per annum, with a maturity period of five years," reads the statement.

The Finance Ministry added that the funds were transferred to Ukrainian government accounts on September 30.
