Due to restrictions ukrainian exports to third countries, namely Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, have decreased significantly

As a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ukraine has filed a lawsuit against Russia for the introduction of numerous transit restrictions on Ukrainian goods since 2016, according to the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.

Ukraine has submitted to the WTO an application to create an expert group in the case.

As highlighted by the Ministry of Economic Development, as a result of restrictions imposed by Russia, Ukrainian exports to third countries, namely Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, have decreased significantly. About 79% of deliveries to Kazakhstan and 95% of shipments to Kyrgyzstan were more or less affected by transit restrictions.

"Last year, the Ministry of Economic Development started the process of settlement of the trade dispute in the WTO. However, at the first stage, Russia was not ready and did not take measures to repeal the unlawful decisions in the field of transit, therefore the Ukrainian side has continued consideration of the case according to the established procedure," the ministry said.
