Ukraine blames top Russian leadership for ousting Crimeans
The Seventh Notice to the International Criminal Court, concerning the forced displacement of civilians from the occupied Crimea, stated the responsibility of the top leadership of the Russian Federation, which was the one who initiated and implemented the policy of persecution in the peninsula. The prosecutor of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Igor Ponochovny said this during a briefing on the transmission of the seventh message to the International Criminal Court, UNN correspondent reports.
"The peculiarity of this message is that it mentions precisely the responsibility of the Russian Federation's senior leadership, which itself initiated and implemented the policy of persecution in the peninsula. This report refers to the large-scale and systematic displacement of the population from the occupied peninsula, because we see these are crimes, and internally displaced persons who, as a result of criminal acts, travel to the mainland of Ukraine - they occur throughout the peninsula and occur throughout almost all the period of occupation ", - said Igor Ponochovnyy.
He noted that at first there were more cases of displacement of the population from Crimea, and now the focus was on Muslims and Crimean Tatars.
"But all this is aimed at leaving Crimea as far as possible to the population who does not support the occupation. Such actions, they are qualified by the Rome Statute as well, constitute serious violations of international humanitarian law, envisaged by the 1949 Geneva Convention, this is a violation of the European Convention. on human rights, "added Igor Ponochovny.
