Turkey won't recognize annexation of Crimea in spite of good relations with Russia
Even considering a setting of good ties with russian authorities, Turkey will not accept and recognize a fact of peninsula annexation as legal act. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said to Hurriyet Daily News.
"Our dialogue with Russia is helping to directly address many issues. But we are not giving any concession on our principles. We support the territorial integrity of Georgia and Ukraine. We do not accept the annexation of Crimea," Cavusoglu said in an address to Turkish ambassadors gathered in Ankara for an annual conference on Jan. 9, Hurriyet Daily News reported.
Russia fulfilled illegal annexation in the spring of 2014 despite its obligations in regard to teritorial integrity of Ukraine according to The Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances.
