The Turkish government has launched air strikes against 13 known targets of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party or PKK, in retaliation for an attack that is said to have killed at least 15 soldiers

The PKK says it detonated a roadside bomb in the village of Daglica in Hakkari province as a military convoy was passing.

The Turkish military has not confirmed the number of deaths.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says he has been “saddened” by the attack and promised a “decisive” response.

Clashes continue despite curfew
Kurdish militants and sympathisers have clashed with the security forces in several towns to the east of the country.

In Diyarbakir, police used water cannon to disperse the crowds, who gathered in defiance of a curfew.

This is the latest wave in a surge of violence between the army and the PKK since July, when a ceasefire collapsed.
