The World Bank recommends reschedule the launch of a new electricity market
The World Bank recommends reschedule the launch of a new electricity market from July 1 to October 1, 2019. This is stated in the statement of the WB representative office in Ukraine on Facebook.
As noted in the message, the World Bank unconditionally supports the law of Ukraine "On the electricity market" (2017), aimed at introducing competition in the electricity market according to the EU Third Energy Package. During this period, the bank provided financial and technical assistance to key market players, among others, Ukrenergo and Energorynka, as well as the government and NCEREC to prepare for the opening of the market.
"Since the adoption of this Law, we have provided financial and technical assistance to key market entities, including Ukrenergo and Energorynok, as well as to the Government and NEURC [the National Energy and Utilities Regulations Commission], to prepare for the market opening on July 1, 2019, as stipulated by the Law," the Representative Office of the World Bank in Ukraine wrote on Facebook on May 28.
