The number of political prisoners in the occupied territories of Ukraine approached 120, - Umerov
In the occupied territories of Ukraine, the number of people who were imprisoned by the occupiers for political reasons approached 120. The deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, co-chairman of the group of inter-parliamentary relations with the Republic of Turkey Rustem Umerov told AA.
"The occupation in Crimea and eastern Ukraine has been going on for 6 years. The number of political prisoners has approached 120, and the number of children without a father has reached 200. I do not think this will end. This continues as a psychological attack on our families, our old people and our children." - said Umerov.
The politician also recalled that Ukraine appealed to Turkey with a request to assist in the release of political prisoners.
Let us remind you that at the beginning of January, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there were about a hundred Ukrainian political prisoners behind bars in Russia. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called on the international community not to ease pressure on Russia until all Ukrainian political prisoners have been released, both those in Russia and those in the temporarily occupied territories.
