The fall in agricultural production accelerated to 19%, - State Statistics Service

Crop production in the first half of 2020 decreased to 56.8%

The drop in agricultural production in Ukraine in January-June 2020 over the same period in 2019 accelerated to 18.7% from 2% in the first five months.
This was reported by the State Statistics Service (Gosstat), BusinessCensor reports with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.

Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Taras Vysotsky associates the decline in production indicators with a number of reasons.

“First of all, these are unfavorable weather conditions this year. Rains and floods in the western part of Ukraine, and at the same time, a prolonged drought in the south destroyed part of the crops. In addition, the conditions did not contribute to the timely harvest of agricultural products. a long-term tendency towards a decline in animal husbandry in Ukraine, "he explained.

According to the State Statistics Service, crop production in the first half of 2020 decreased to 56.8%, livestock production - down to 2.2% compared to January-June last year.

As reported, in 2019, agricultural production in Ukraine increased by 1.1% after a jump of 8.1% in 2018 and a decline of 2.2% in 2017.
