The Ambassador of Ukraine in Algeria commemorates the fighters against colonialism
Last week Ukrainian Ambassador Maxim Subh visited the Mufdi Zakaria Palace of Culture in the capital of Algeria, where an official farewell ceremony was held with 24 heroes participating in the liberation war against colonialism: their remains were returned from France to their homeland the day before.
According to the embassy press service, on July 3, on a special flight from Paris, the remains of Algerian revolutionaries arrived at Algeria International Airport, where they were personally met by President Abdelmajid Tebbun.
For more than a century and a half, the remains were located on the territory of France and only now, at the request of the Government of Algeria, this noble cause was completed.
During the ceremony, the Ukrainian ambassador laid a symbolic wreath and gave an interview to a number of leading Algerian television channels, including congratulating the people of Algeria on Independence Day, which is celebrated there on July 5.
