Poroshenko rejects variants of "federation" for Ukraine

The president stressed Ukraine should protect and strengthen national unity

Ukraine is a unitary state and doesn't need "federation" and political entities like this. Such statement was voiced by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

"It should be clear for everyone: Ukraine is a unitary state with one state language, as spelled out in the Constitution. No federations and no special statuses. The united, independent Ukraine," he said at Kyiv's St. Sophia Square on Unity Day of Ukraine and the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the Reunification Act between the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic.

The president stressed Ukraine should protect and strengthen national unity.

As was reported earlier, Poroshenko said Russia had annexed Crimea and tried to split Ukraine to force Kyiv to abandon the idea of joining the European Union and NATO.
