Parubiy: Russian PACE Observers Cannot Attend Parliament Elections

Ukrainian Parliament Chairman Andriy Parubiy said that Ukraine must prevent Russian PACE observers from attending Ukrainian snap parliamentary elections.

Ukrainian Parliament Chairman Andriy Parubiy said that Ukraine must prevent Russian PACE observers from attending Ukrainian snap parliamentary elections.

“I consider it expedient, if the Russian delegation is reinstated in PACE, to withdraw its invitation as the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine regarding the participation of observers in Ukraine. If they’ll try to send Russian observers to Ukraine through PACE, we cannot allow the observers from the aggressor country to determine the democracy of the Ukrainian elections,” he said during the Parliamentary Conciliation Council, UNIAN reported.

He said that he will receive the support of the relevant committee and all the chairs of the factions.

On June 26, 2019, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe supported a resolution approving the credentials of the delegation of the Russian Federation without imposing any sanctions. 116 parliamentarians voted in favor of the corresponding resolution, 62 against and 15 abstained.
