Olga Kharlan becomes world champion in saber fencing

On Saturday, July 20, Olha Kharlan won the gold medal in saber fencing at the World Fencing Championships in Budapest.


On Saturday, July 20, Olha Kharlan won the gold medal in saber fencing at the World Fencing Championships in Budapest.

Olha Kharlan beat Russian Sofya Velikaya (15:14) in the finals of the women’s saber individual tournament, Ukrinform reports.

After defeating the rivals from Malaysia, Georgia and the Republic of Korea, Kharlan beat compatriot Alina Komashchuk (15:14) in the quarterfinals and defeated Romania’s Bianca Pascu (15: 5) in the semifinals.

Olha Kharlan becomes the six-time world champion (team champion twice).
