More than 1.2 mln tones of grain were exported by Ukraine since July 1
Ukrainian agribusinesses exported 1.253 million tonnes of grain from July 1, when the 2017-2018 marketing year started (MY, July 2017 – June 2018), to July 19, according to the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry's press service.
In particular, 194,000 tonnes of wheat, 370,000 tonnes of barley, and 689,000 tonnes of maize were exported from Ukraine. Over the period under review, farmers shipped abroad some 2,900 tonnes of wheat flour.
As reported earlier, Ukrainian agribusinesses in 2016-2017 MY exported 43.8 million tonnes of grain, according to preliminary estimates, which was a record high over Ukraine's independence. At the same time, revenue from grain exports increased by 6%, to US$6.4 billion.
The previous record of grain exports in Ukraine was registered in the 2015-2016 MY at the level of 39.4 million tonnes. Ukraine harvested 65.95 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops in 2016, which was 9.7% up from 2015. It was also a record yield of grain over the country's independence, according to the State Statistics Service.
