Iraqi Embassy in Kiev marks the 93rd anniversary of the formation of Iraqi Armed Forces
Under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Ukraine, the Iraqi Military Attaché’s Office in Kiev celebrated on 21/1/2014 the 93rd anniversary of the formation of Iraqi army with the participation of the Embassy's staff as well as members of Iraqi Cultural office in Kiev.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of ambassadors, diplomats, military attaches of Arab and foreign states, accredited to Ukraine in addition to the Iraqi community in Ukraine, and a number of high-ranking Ukrainian officers.
Iraq's Ambassador to Ukraine, Mr. Shorsh Khalid Said delivered a speech on this occasion in which he praised the achievements and the sacrifices of the Iraqi army, which lighted the way towards a better future for Iraqis, stressing that Iraqi army's doctrine after 2003, is based on the principles of professional and national responsibility, and aimed at protecting the security and sovereignty of Iraq, and defending homeland against external threats and aggression.
In his speech, Iraqi Military Attaché stressed that Iraqi army represents the true spirit of national cohesion of all spectra of the Iraqi people.
During the ceremony, Head of Zhytomyr Regional Organization of the Participants of the international peacekeeping operations "Soldiers of Peace", Mr. Sergey Korobtsov awarded medal of peacemaker Merit (second class) to ambassador for supporting peace efforts, and contribution to the development of bilateral relations between Iraq and Ukraine in the interests of both countries and their friendly peoples.
The ceremony included also display of Iraqi army's march since its formation as well as performances of patriotic songs that glorify the achievements of the Iraqi army.
