Several Christians have offered up their services to help preserve an ancient Jewish synagogue in the Assyrian town of Al-Qosh, just 10 miles (16km) from the frontier of territory held by the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL)

SOT, Revan Al-Hakim, local of Al-Qosh (Arabic): "Prophet Nahum's shrine in Al-Qosh was established before the Christian era and even Al-Qosh existed before Christianity. Al-Qosh and the shrine, just as all the neighbouring areas, have seen a lot of new developments and many distractions and acts of vandalism."
